Austin-Bergstrom expects new landing fees for private and other noncommercial planes as early as Oct. 1, Austin Current reported. That is from a memo. It is not a confirmed final rate sheet.
Current, citing an Aviation Department memo, said the landing fee would be about $50 normally and $100 on Formula 1, SXSW, NASCAR, and UT home-game days. The airport told Current it could not confirm those memo rates as final.
Council Member Vanessa Fuentes told Current the point is that private aviation should pay more of the airport’s costs during a multibillion-dollar expansion. The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association told Current the same rules would hit small planes and student pilots, not just jets.
