Council on Thursday tightened density-bonus rules for projects near future light-rail stations. Austin Current reports Item 31 passed unanimously after a public hearing.
Those projects now have to build affordable units on-site. Fee-in-lieu is off for them. Elsewhere in the city, developers in the Citywide Density Bonus program can still pay into the Housing Trust Fund instead of putting the units in the building.
