Austin will start planning for a city bond election every six years, now that Council has approved the plan.
Council also approved historic landmark zoning for Doris Miller Auditorium.

The city's posted results show the resolution passed Thursday on consent. It directs the city manager to plan toward a bond election every six years, with the first in fiscal 2028 and the next in fiscal 2034. The posted version adds that the city "may issue certificates of obligation." That's a kind of debt that doesn't go to voters. It doesn't change the $260M parks bond and $35M library bond on the Nov 3 ballot (Exhibit D). One caveat: no projects, amounts or dates are set yet, and no vote count has been posted.
