KUT reports Zilker Botanical Garden has been under full city management since Oct. 1. KUT reports the garden is closed through Oct. 15, with a planned reopen Oct. 16, for facility abatement, renovation, and maintenance. Oct. 16 is tomorrow.
KUT reports an Oct. 1 statement from Austin Parks and Recreation said the Zilker Botanical Garden Conservancy voted last month not to renew its contract. The nonprofit ceased operations at the end of September. The public-private agreement ended Sept. 30. Until then, KUT reports, the city had been in charge of grounds maintenance.
KUT reports the city said it will honor current Conservancy memberships. The Conservancy’s statement, since removed from its pages, did not say why the partnership ended.
